I procrastinated reading this despite what I can only describe as harassment by friends and I hate to admit they were right. It’s just *fun*
The MC is absolutely overpowered and flawless (by design). I do wish that the disability representation had been a bit more intentional and fleshed out rather than it being treated as a minor inconvenience that everyone just bullies her for.
The MC also just straight up THIRSTS for this angsty boy. There is not a moment he is “on screen” and she isn’t actively lusting over him to the point that it’s just excessive and if anything takes away from her character a bit. Shes supposed to be this next-level smart strategist and that all goes out the window due to one guy regardless of context? I get that lust is a part of their relationship dynamic, but like…it gets to the point that I don’t understand why she likes him past his looks or why he likes her back. They fall HARD and FAST without much disclosure or character development. But it’s still a slow burn?

Super Buch, aber fande es blöd das es im deutschen mehr Seiten gab und auch länger gezogen wurde. Ansonsten war es super schön und auch herzzerreißend Richtung Ende. Der Plottwist ganz am Ende schockiert mich noch immer!

the book is good. however, some things left me wondering what in the earth happened especially on the part sometimes that they should be TALKING and not after a few seconds, they're fucking. don't get me wrong, for some reason, it gives me fifty shades of gray whenever they do THAT

I'm not really into romantasy but this was a good read. At times, I found the language to be a bit stilted. The cursing felt forced and out of place. The military folks I know are really pretty creative with how they curse you out. Here, it felt like someone said "Maybe an eff bomb? Would that work?" as they reviewed the manuscript. I also felt the way that Violet and her paramour spoke to one another toward the middle/end of the book felt oddly Victorian and out of character. However, I just said I'm not really the main audience for this genre, so maybe that's just how it's done. I found myself drawn into the descriptions of the dragons, the battles, and that between Violet and her friends. I would have liked more backstory on Violet's weak ligaments and how it took her going to the military academy for someone to figure out she just needed to life weights to solve some of those problems. That felt like a backstory that got dropped in editing that should have stayed in. All in all, it was a good book and I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.
