It's a no from me. I definitely won't be continuing with this series. I don't understand the hype around Xaden Riorson.
The writing felt like it was done by a hormonal teenager.
It was hard to get through, both because of the writing and the flat, unlikable characters. It took me 15 days to finish this book simply because it was so boring.
I almost DNFed it, but I pushed through since I didn't want to waste the money I spent. Books like this are expensive in my country, which makes it even more disappointing. Honestly, it felt like a waste of money. (This book costs 1,095 PH peso. 🙄)

This book was outside my comfort zone, but I listened to it because several had recommended it. (I did not listen to the dramatized version). It was a welcomed surprise. I was drawn in instantly by the underdog scenario.
I have to say however, the love scenes were downright porn. I could have done without the graphic nature of it. I guess some need that in a genre like this maybe, but I didn’t see why.
Overall, I’m glad I read it. Now, I’ll return to my historical fiction safe space!

- I don't love the militarism and trivializing of death in this series and I am choosing to ignore the author's bio. There is an open market for a nice leftist to write a romantasy series just saying!!!
- I cannot get over the love interest's name being Xaden especially when the rest of the characters have normal names. It's giving Mormon mommy blogger
- Despite these complaints it was otherwise a fun steamy speedreading romp and unfortunately I will be picking up the next one
