For anyone out there looking to read (or reread) this series, I found out as I was searching for a copy of this particular book that they're all available for free on the Internet Archive, so just wanted to share that before I get into my actual thoughts.

In this book, Nancy is inexplicably good at tap dancing AND morse code, so I first want to add that to her amazing list of talents, alongside golf, sailing, and scuba diving. Girl gets around! I liked the mystery of this quite a lot, and it kept me guessing most of the way through. I also love that the last few installments have had an increase of Ned, Burt, and Dave appearing alongside the girls, because they always make the books a bit more interesting. All in all this was another good time, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Nancy gets up to next.

The Clue of the Tapping Heels was a really weird one. There is a LOT going on and Nancy really gets herself in a pickle. Our heroine is kidnapped, drugged repeatedly, and sent off on vacation to get out of dodge, only to be kidnapped again! Seriously, it’s probably the most harrowing installment yet as far as Nancy’s safety is concerned (and undoubtedly the most racist).

Of course, we also have our run-of-the-mill happenings in River Heights: boats capsize, phone lines are cut, and everyone avoids calling the police at the most prudent times. An actor, a private detective, and Bess and George end up solving much of the mystery because Nancy requires a lot of saving this time around.

Most importantly, I think that this is the first book where Bess was introduced as a “dignified looking girl who always took joy in being well-dressed” and not as Nancy’s plump friend. Seriously, I nearly fell out.

4/5/20 age 9 - The story is about a girl named Nancy who gets called away to an old lady's house for tapping heels and stolen Persian kittens! I loved it! I liked the part where Nancy got the cat down from the beam that it was trapped on. I did not like the part where Nancy had somebody follow her home in his car and when she got threatened.
Words that describe this book: exciting, surprising, entertaining, funny. It was surprising when Nancy was exploring the staircase she suddenly was bound and gagged.
I would recommend this book to mystery lovers.

I like that one the main criminals here is a victim. He's just trying to get what he has coming to him after years of being abused.

As always, Nancy gets her man! This book was refreshing break from the depressing current events we've all been bogged down by. In this series, even the criminals have a wholesomeness. This mystery was face-paced as always, entertaining and a superfun read.

I recommend this to anybody looking for a fun mystery targeted for children, or any looking for an iconic book series in American literature.

By page 16 I knew who one of the bad guys was - this is both the best and worst part of a Nancy Drew novel.
