I wanted to make sure I finished this off before the Disney Plus show, which wasn't hard as each volume is only six or so issues. I really enjoyed the first two volumes, thought the third was okay, and saw this one as a return to form, which did some interesting things (e.g. the Winter Friends episode, using sign language in the panels after Clint is deafened) similar to some of the earlier volumes.

Starts uninspiredly, picks up and has adequate closure.

I think I waited waaaaay too long between Hawkeye volumes. I was lost . . . not to the point of wanting to give up, but there was a lot of "okay, I guess this person was important for some reason, let's go with that and move on."

Also I just finished a volume of Mockingbird, so between Hawkeye's role there, the Hawkeye from the Marvel movie-verse, the Hawkeye here, and Actual Jeremy Renner of the Amazing App and Amazon Store, I was very fuzzy on what I was remembering from where.

So it was kind of a messy read, and that's not all on Fraction OR the artists. I just rolled with it. It was fine, but I remember enjoying the last three volumes a lot more.

Ahhhhhh I didn't realize this was the END of this arc (and I think Fraction's run on Hawkeye? Not sure) and now I'm so sad, because this was AMAZING. Brotherly angst! Tragic backstory! Tracksuit mafia! Kate Bishop! Awesome Natasha Romanov cameo! Part of it is told entirely from the point of view of Clint Barton while he is deaf, which is, as you might imagine, not easy to render in a comic form. Fraction is brilliant. The art is great. I feel like this is one of those comics that shows how comics can be used to their full potential, and why the medium is so unique. Bro? I wish there was more, bro.

The last of the Fraction run for the Hawkeye series. Unlike most people, I'm not that enamored with what they did with Hawkeye, and by volume four, it's starting to feel a little same-old, same-old to me. I enjoyed the addition of Clint's older brother Barney but boy am I sick of that godawful building Clint refuses to acquiesce to the bro gang. Looing forward to the new direction from vol 5.

they played with my feelings,bro
i never knew this series would be THAT amazing. i was close to tears at least 5 times and it was just so beautiful. i am really sad about the fact that clint barton is a very underrated character despite he’s AN AVENGER. maybe because his personality isn’t reflected that good in mcu but we gotta do something about it.

aaaand i need to talk about kate because she became one of my favorite characters. kate bishop is a truly unique character. she have this reckless, childish personality but she is a genius and clint owes her a lot, honestly. they make a great team.

AND LUCKY DESERVES ALL THE LOVE AND PIZZA IN THIS WORLD HE’S AN AMAZING SIDEKICK AND I’D DIE FOR CLINT AND HIS FRIENDSHIP UWU

What a tremendously satisfying conclusion to an incredibly original and envy-inducing work of sequential art. Bravo to Matt Fraction, David Aja, et al.

In love with this story, also I’m really happy that Lucky was super lucky, otherwise I would’ve cried sm.
I really loved that way of telling a story, how they manage to include Clint’s deafness.
