I didn’t love this one as much as the two short story collections that kick off the series. There were parts that felt a little slow, and the timeline jumps got a bit confusing. That said, as someone who doesn’t mind character-driven fantasy that’s heavy on political intrigue and light on action, I still really enjoyed this. It’s hard to say how much my enjoyment was influenced by playing the video game and already having an attachment to the characters. I’m loving filling in the gaps of their history and seeing how they got to where the narrative of the game picks up.
