how can you put kids to work in a mill as their guardian :s

This was one of my favorites in the series, absurd and with fantastically bizarre characters.

I don’t know if I’m due for a reread or if it was this vol in particular, but I found this to be truly devastating. This issue in particular underlined a wretched tone.

It takes place on a mill mostly and it truly stands true to its title. A miserable place to live, work, be… A miserable story that takes place on a mill.

I am not disappointed with the story per se, I do appreciate the normalcy of this story (if one can call it that). Count Olaf’s appearance is sparse and devise is simple. Not very eventful, which I thought was different from the other three, yet refreshing and non expecting.

However, I found it read kind of childish and just in general, felt like a three stars for me.

3.5 stars
