I started with the audiobook version of this story, and the narrator does a really good job of putting emotions into the words spoken.

The story of Jane is so heart wrenching. What she went through, the physical and mental trauma that she experienced is so difficult to imagine.
It’s a great book but a hard read. Captured my attention throughout.

I really enjoyed this book. Though, at first, I found the prose too waxing and poetic with an excess of adjectives and specificity of description, once it was explained that the narrator was a poet it made a lot more sense. I saw the twist coming a mile away, but I felt like that didn’t matter because the emotional weight and journey of the protagonist were what carried the story, not simply the plot of her abduction. Because of this, I especially liked that her story did not end wen she was found. We were given further glimpses into the struggles in the aftermath. Overall a powerful story with a well developed protagonist.
