Possibly reading a book about identical twins and serial killers was not the most intelligent decision I ever made...

...but it was a really good book. I just...she's very intense, and I think she might be too intense for me. Also, it'll be interesting to see how this all translates to the television show.

So I admit: Gerritsen had me goin' in this book. I spent 35% of my time here thinking that "The Dominator" was Agent Dean. I mean, he was way too sketchy and Rizzoli was constantly chasing him for hiding far too much. So then at the end when she meets The Dominator/The Surgeon....its all a scene that is literally 5 pages or less? Maybe 10 at the most? And there is literally no dialogue. Not even with Hoyt. WHAT?!?!? So much build up. NO satisfaction. I absolutely love Gerritson's writing and I loved the plot and the rest of the book but this was probably the worst ending to a book EVER. :(((

I picked this one up because I've read other Gerritsen's book (it wasn't one with Rizzoli and Isles, and perhaps that was my mistake) and kind of enjoyed it. You know, it was okay. Not really good, but not really bad either.
I really didn't like this one, though. The plot felt cliche and boring, twists and explanations were illogical, pacing was weird & side plotlines distracted from the main one (again, maybe if you read all of Gerritsen's books it makes more sense and all pieces fit together. For obvious reasons, for me they didn't). I've also found the dialogue wooden and every second page wanted to scream "that is not how people talk to each other!", but I've read The Keepsake in languange other than English, so maybe the translator was just shitty.
But I did finish it in two days, so I guess that's a good thing. I probably won't read more of Gerritsen's books, even though I enjoyed the first one I've ever read.
