When I first heard about this book and added it to my wishlist, I somehow thought it had influences of Greek Mythology in it. It does NOT. However, the book is a great read and in my opinion a very good debut.

Having said that, I want to say that I didn't particularly love this book despite its awesome storyline. The reason for that is that the main characters in this book are instantly falling for eachother; Insta-love. And let me make this clear; I'm a big fan of developing relationships. Sure, lust at first sight is completely believable, but to basically sacrifice yourself to save the boyfriend you've only known for a short time, is going too far in my opinion. It was annoying me throughout the story and it felt wrong. It was bothering me all throughout the book, even though I enjoyed the writing and the rest of the storyline.

Hayes's writing style is pleasant and easy to read, as is the story she wrote. If it doesn't bother you that there's insta-love, I'd definitely recommend picking up this book; you won't be disappointed.

My overall rating: 3.5/5

3.5 stars - because I'm not in love with it, but it makes a great story.

Not the worst written, but it has a certain factor that makes me want to snicker when I'm supposed to take something seriously. Theia's accent, the prose, the very name of the town, it's baked into the very FABRIC of Falling Under (even its initials).

I absolutely loved it! It was seductive, funny, and wonderfully, darkly romantic.

I'm so confused about this one...
First, I hate this cover, it could have been better.
Second, I did like the story, it was unique from anything I read before mainly because of the main subject being "hell" and "demons". I loved that!
There were a lot of adult words that were just uncomfortable to read. I hated that part a lot! I don't know if this is a YA specific thing or not, I've certainly found a lot of romance and stuff like that in previous reads, but this one was just too much.
I can't give it 5, there's no way I'd do that looking at other books that I gave 5 to.
I think 3 is good for it, from my point of view of course. :)
I wonder whether I'm going to read the sequel or not?!

I love it!!! The conflict inside each character, and the flow of the history, everything amazes me. I really like the way Haden calls Theia and how strong their emotions for eachother are...

I have no idea where to even start with the review of this book! There were countless times I felt confused in this book. There were many Oh My Gawd moments as well. I felt as though the author had me trapped on a roller coaster with this book. I was pulled in many directions, and at times it didn't make sense to me.

Theia for me was not much of a character. She was distant and weak in my opinion. Yes, she gets stronger near the end, but for the first half of the book I couldn't stand to read much about her. Her Father was a piece of work as well! Talk about a distant Dad! The rules he makes Theia follow were pretty strict and I didn't think she deserved to have them. She was talented in music and did well in school, but her family life was disappointing.

Her friends on the other hand were great! I loved Donny and her attitude. She was one who would speak her mind and didn't care what you thought about it! Ame was more of a nut case spiritual friend that would make you want to grab all the organic stuff you can find! Together they are a riot when they bicker and carry on around Theia. Varnie was my favorite character by far in this book! I seriously hope we get to see more of him in future books! A surfer dude in drag was definitely the funny character this book needed since there is a lot of dark and demon things going on in the book.

Overall not a bad book to read if you are looking for a dark young adult book instead of a light romance in this genre. Definitely not a cutesy book, but one that will keep you guessing!

Read it in three hours. Not a terrible book, but not great. 2.7 out of 5 stars, rounded up for this site.

The book wasn't bad, but it wasn't as great as I had hoped. i loved the characters and dialogue, but something was missing. Things were missing from the plot. Originally, I thought Theia could cross into Under without being burned because she was only spiritually crossing into that realm. But then Haden goes saying that he didn't know why she didn't burn when she first went into his realm and then I was all confused. Haden was a bit too mushy and Theia was like every other chick who gets dumped in YA fiction. I was hoping Theia would be different and she'd be strong and trying to move on. Instead she tries to kill herself and that disappointed me because I really liked the characters that Hayes developed (I wasn't a huge fan of Haden, he was like every other leading male in YA fiction). I adored Donny, she was too funny and I loved her. Mike was like a nothing. He just wasted space and I had to agree when Donny and Theia were wondering why Ames was in love with him. Ame never really explains why, she just did, for some odd reason. I like her with Varnie much better. Anyway, this book wasn't a bad read, but it's not really something that I'd recommend. Maybe as a distraction.
