2.5/5 This collection, of the first 5 comics in The Wicked + The Divine series, introduces a very interesting concept (gods return to earth every 90 years but die after 2years) with beautifully executed artwork. The slow burning, modern fantasy plot took a while to grab my attention but I am curious to see where it goes next.
3.5 stars
The art is gorgeous and consistently fabulous. The story has a great premise and I like where it could be going, but I was left wanting more. The characters and representation of Gods were amazing and definitely invested my interest.

This was interesting.
I mean it at least held my interest. I wanted to find out what was going on. Did I? Nope. Still a bit lost, but I’m sure it will be elaborated on in the next issues. Will I read more? Sure! On kindle unlimited or the like.

couldn't get into this at all. I found it really shallow and confusing. really try hard.
funny
medium-paced
First of all, I loved the art style. It is absolutely stunning. For the first volume I felt like this fell a little bit short though, it threw you into the story without giving you any background and for that reason it was difficult to follow sometimes. I will continuing with the series for sure, though.
Gorgeous art, cool concept and…confusing? Maybe if I read the next ones it would be more clear and interesting. The first fell short. :/ Extra star for how pretty it was.
I love the concept, and the characters are interesting, and there is a constant forward momentum. The art is lovely, every character is different and elaborate. However, some of the dialogue is confusing in places, requires a second read to understand some of the topic jumps when they talk.
It's awesome that the authors take a smattering of gods from around the world, ones that I've never heard of, but the authors assume you do know them and don't really introduce them and all their powers and personalities . Personally, this just makes me want to go out and learn about these gods, but this possibly added to my confusion at times

This story was interesting, but lacked a lot of details which led to lots of confusion. There are too many characters introduced too quickly, making it hard to keep track of who is who. The art was done very well though and I plan on reading the next volume to see if the story gets any better.
