Good story, good art. I will be continuing this series for sure.

Great book. Super interesting concept. Don't want to put it down.

Beautiful art and character designs. Interesting idea, although I felt like I was missing a lot of context for certain parts.

This was the first time I consumed a story in this medium/format, and I was pleasantly surprised. The artwork was amazing, and the story was enjoyable. I felt the content suited the medium quite nicely.

WHAT. IN. THE. HELL...

I have no idea how I feel about this first book.

The whole first half of the story, I didn't know what the hell was going on. It was hard to follow.

This tale just dives you right in, where we are introduce to a situation, with no actual build up. Then at the end we are given some back story and shit starts making more sense.

So, my review...I don't freaking know....like, I think I know what is going on, but shit, I still have a lot of damn questions...like, what in the hell is actually going on.

Our main character is very intrigued and connected to these gods and she is instantly wrapped into their drama, but I just don't get why. Why is she so special, what made her the "chosen" one to join the "cool" kids? I also am not a fan or hers...she isn't very impressive.

The artwork is absolutely beautiful and the only reason why I am going to keep reading is to see if I can actually keep up.

So, 3.5 stars.

The writing was great & and the story was fascinating, but overall I was a little confused. This one has been hyped up a lot and while I wasn't totally disappointed, I wasn't wowed like everybody else either.

The art work is absolutely stunning. I love this graphic novel. The story is so creative. It has a fantastic premise. It sucks you in from the beginning. Can't wait to read the next volume

Original review: 1/ 5
.... what was this?

I feel like this would make a really cool show, but to read... I was so confused. I didn't understand what on Earth (or Heaven or Hell) was going on.

Didn't really enjoy this at all. It was disappointing because the bit of concept I could understand (gods coming back as celebrities) sounded fun, but it just didn't explain anything and there wasn't any plot.

To further the confusion, it seemed like it included 12 gods from lots of different mythology. When I saw 12 gods, I initially assumed they'd be from Greek myth, so I was a bit mind boggled to see this wasn't wasn't case, especially as there were some I wasn't familiar with. It could have benefitted with a character list and which mythology they were from.
There's so much that could have been done better.

I loved the art though, but sadly, that's not enough for me to pick up any more from this series.

Reread: 3/5
Upon my reread, I still found the plot to be underdeveloped and convoluted, with no real explanation to what was going on, who was who and why, but I'd definitely say I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. I found myself laughing and and reacting to explosive scenes and did appreciate the broad spectrum of cultural deities.
As before, I found the art style to be the best but and although I found myself understanding the point of the story more so this time around I still think it was giving style over substance.

I do intend to read volume 2 at least, this time and pretty soon!

Seriously digging the art, intrigued by the story; some aspects of the plot in this first volume are a little hard to follow, but I’m definitely drawn in enough to want to read more.
