Seriously digging the art, intrigued by the story; some aspects of the plot in this first volume are a little hard to follow, but I’m definitely drawn in enough to want to read more.
An intriguing start to a graphic novel series!

Extreme Book Nerd Your Way Challenge 2022 - #50/50 All Done!!
Just a beginning to an interesting concept for a series. 12 Gods come back every 90 years for 2 years to reak havoc, no wait, to play and let the world know they still exist. Ok... maybe both. Anyway, a little superfan gets involved to try and save the gods but acting too crazy and she winds up learning a lot more than she probably bargained for, but is loving every minute of it.

Most of it was "meh" to me but issue #5 was actually pretty interesting so I'll be continuing on and hoping I get into it more as I go along.

I loved the concept. "12 gods incarnate as humans in every 90 years and die in 2 years." Especially the idea of they are being pop stars was an amazing teasing. I saw that almost every characters inspired by an artist like Florence Welch, Kanye, Gaga... Also elements are based on many mythologies, legends etc. not just one source.
This volume was like an intro to me. Cuz' there was not much elucidation- like why just two years, what is the purpose of this? Besides, they look like annoying super rich superheroes more than cool pop star gods which I didn't like it. Furthermore there are diversity in gender, color, race and that's great but if I didn't go and look up for details for characters I would'nt understand their thang, for example asians don't look like asians.
Art is straight comic style. Liked the palette.

I usually really like Kieron Gillen’s stuff, but this is a bit of a slow burn to be really enjoyable. It’s all about the mystery, which is fine, but he holds it too long while ultimately not giving us any answers.
Reincarnated gods as celebrities is a fine concept, but it just holds that note without any variation. They obey some unknown rules in order not to scare humans, or something, yet they keep doing terrifying things like take over pop music and explode people’s heads.
It feels like [b:American Gods|30165203|American Gods|Neil Gaiman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1462924585s/30165203.jpg|1970226] without the charisma. So 2 stars for the writing.
But 5 stars for the art, which has a clean minimalism to it.
