Reading about World War II always inspires me to overcome the obstacles in my own life. This book was no exception. It was a joy to witness two very different women face their fears and find their voices! Letting go is a strength. Love endures, love conquers all – those are the lessons I took away from this book. Highly recommend.

Wow I loved this book. It's heartbreaking, inspiring, and beautifully written. I loved the back and forth between modern day and WWII occupied Poland. I found lots of wisdom in Alice's self-discovery story. My first read of 2023 is going to be hard to top.

Things We Cannot Say!
What can I say? Wow! I am not a huge historical fiction fan. However, when a book is good a book is good! I loved the bouncing back and forth between present day from Alice’s point of view and the time during and after WW2 from Alina’s point of view. It was like solving a mystery. After Alice’s grandma suffers a stroke, she is left unable to speak and leaves unfinished clues for Alice to find out their family history and who Tomasz truly js. Will Alice complete her grandmother’s dying wish?
Listening to this audiobook was great. The narrators Anne Marie Gideon and Nancy Peterson give a voice to Alice and Alina. The accents really brought the story to life. I highly recommend the audiobook.
