I started it today and I couldn't put it down!! I finished it this evening.

This book was more challenging than I expected because of how poetic the writing style was-- but I really enjoyed it nonetheless, especially the second half of the book. It's a masterpiece, one that I feel like I'm definitely going to want to re-read again sometime.

It's an enemies-to-lovers story in the most wonderfully tense, forbidden-love kind of way. It's immensely satisfying to see very different people become more and more curious about each other's lives and thoughts. The pacing of this book is beautiful.
The first "I love you" spills out in an overflowing deluge after being held back behind the dam for so long.

Can I have the words in this book etched into my skin? So so beautiful. This book’s take on what it means to love is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever read. Incredible to have such a brave unapologetic and honest sapphic story.

In the middle I found it a little slow, because of the intentional vagueness and focus on words rather than plot - which I enjoyed but I found it hard to keep going with it. Once I pushed through it was all worth it though. I think it’d benefit from a reread now I understand a little bit more from having finished it.

I didn’t care how much I understood it though, because it made me feel.

I had the added bonus of my girlfriend’s annotations and letters as I went along though, which made it all the more special. (Ella - I love you, I love you, I love you.)

i said midway through reading this that i wanted to inhale the words and grasp desperately to each syllable as if it were the last breath i ever took, but honestly, after finishing the book i now know that i want for more than that. i want to tear apart my heart and embed each word onto each and every artery. this is a masterpiece, well and truly. i have never read such a thrilling piece that has had me in ruins because good god, that writing is not even phenomenal, it is a word not even fathomed to language yet. this is a gift to the writers told that to write, you must meet tradition. fuck tradition. write with the flowers in mind, and love with your words entwined.
