I've been a fan of Juliet Marillier ever since I picked up her book 'Daughter Of The Forest' back in the year 2000. I followed the Sevenwater Series up to this book and was finding it very hard to continue on seeing as I never found the characters as compelling as the first novel. Seer of Sevenwaters rekindled my love for this series. Sibeal is an amazing character filled with fortitude of the mind and body. Her dreams of becoming a druid are powerful, yet she is so determined in this vision that she is blinded to all other alternatives. She is stubborn, a bit pretentious, but wholeheartedly supportive of family and friends. The romance, which is bound to happen in a Juliet Marillier book, is a little too fast for my liking but it develops beautifully. The tale closely resembles that of the selkies, yet is its own entity. Well worth reading for its vision, crafting, and voice.

In my opinion, this is the weakest book in the series so far. It felt like a filler book with nothing new happening. After absolutely loving the last book, this one felt like a bit of a let-down.
The first half of the book is intriguing, but half way, most of the answers are provided, it gets less detailed and the solutions for the situations that arise are a bit too easy.
Nonetheless I am looking forward to the next and final book of this great series.

Sibeal is sent to the warrior Island of Eala, where some of her kin live, before she can offically become a druid. Once there, a shipwreck occurs off their coast and Sibeal is drawn to help Felix, one of the few surviors. As Felix slowly heals, Sibeal and he form an unexplanable bond that helps her solve the mystery of the strange woman who's one of the shipwrecks survivors. Using the Sight, and with the help of Felix, she must make things right with those survivors who may be more than they claim. The book takes the readers on Sibeal's journey to solve the mystery brought by these survivors, and struggle with her feeling for Felix that cannot coexist with her calling to be a druid.

This was an interesting read that carried along many books in this world created by Marillier. I felt that Sibeal's devotion to becoming a druid was admirable, but semi-unrealistic considering how young she is. I liked the plot of the book, with it's twists and turns of mystery, as well as the bringing in of celtic folklore. I was interested inn seeing how to the love interest developed, and the mysteries that unwraveled throughout the book kept me turning the page.

HUGE LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT !!!
While she is almost a Druid, Sibeal is sent by her mentor to the island of Inis Eala to reflect for the last time on her wishes. But when a Viking ship runs aground and the survivors seem to hide dark secrets, Sibeal is going to be tested like never before ...
I have long been looking for a book set in Ireland that is original and at the same time faithful to the Irish spirit, the same that we can read about in the storybooks. I've got it in my TBR for ten million years and I had heard only good things about this author but as I rarely read High Fantasy, I had not tried it yet ... Until now since for some weeks I am in a huge High Fantasy phase and so I decided to try this series ... Starting with the fifth book xD Yes I know, as usual, reading a series in the right order doesn't come naturally to me ><
I SO LOVE this book !!
First because although the book is huge, the style is very nice and the story is so engaging that you don't get bored for a single second !! The main and secondary plots bewitched me, I had some suspicions because I was raised with fairy tales and bizarre stories (and then with a name like Knut ...) but until the end, I was kept in suspense x)
Then because the universe that the author created is bewitching : we want to go into the book to fully visit the island, to travel to the Sevenwaters estate to explore everything, to go talk with each character ... And I have always loved the myths around the Fair Folk and the Scandinavian and Irish mythologies x) This book made me want to go back to Ireland and never leave again ><
Finally, I had a big crush on the characters, whether secondary or principal. I found Sibeal the heroine extremely strong and terribly endearing, I loved to see her with Felix, to see their love grow and flourish, to see the trials they went through. I cried, laughed, squealed and shuddered with them ><
One complaint : the end !! I was like WTF !!! For me, there was a chapter missing at least, I wanted to see the reunion between Felix and Sibeal >< SOOOOO FRUSTRATED !!!
In short, I TOTALLY love it and I think I will attack now the first book before reading the latest xD

My favorite world, every re-read of a book in this series feels like coming home.
