I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about it besides that it was by the same author as "Red, White and Royal Blue," which I liked. I am glad I went into it this way and was able to speculate about more aspects of the book than if I had read the summary or any of the reviews. I loved the romance, I loved the sense that something out of the ordinary was happening, I loved the mysteries, I loved the found family vibes of the apartment and the restaurant. This set the bar high for me with romance and captures well what I like out of a romance novel.

It took me quite long to finish this book because, although it was relatively short, it was slow paced and had long chapters. However, I still enjoyed this book and the writing style Casey McQuinston used. The cast of characters was very diverse, which I loved, and they were portrayed in a very real and respectful way. I was recommended this book by a friend and I am glad I read it because I am always down to expand my TBR with sapphic books. I felt satisfied with the ending, and it really made the book for me. The only reason I rated it less than 4 stars is because I am not a big fan of slow paced books (just my personal taste).

This book. THIS BOOK. It made me feel so much. I’ve been reading a string of excellent books and I think this one takes the cake. So uniquely queer and fun while heartfelt and grounded in truth. Definitely not perfect: August saying to Jane that people being called slurs is not a thing anymore which is just…not true. But overall I really enjoyed this book

Wow. Such an interesting concept! The elements to this story are crazy and wonderful and intriguing. I love the witty banter and commentary... I laughed and I cried. I'm pretty sure this is the first book by this author that I've had the pleasure to enjoy but I'm about to go add a bunch more to my TBR.

Welp, this book actually made me cry, this is the part that got me

“This one’s for you, August. Jane says, ‘Just in case.’”

This whole book felt magical. I loved the characters. It definitely has a rose tinted view on NYC.

Some of the jokes/one liners felt pretty corny at times but these are some of my favorite

“I don’t know. Like my heart is gonna come out of my ass and suplex me into the mantle of the earth, I guess.”

“August, we’re adults, just say you got your back blown out.”

“I thought we had gotten past your denial that she wants to eat chocolate fondue off your ass and then cosign a mortgage.”

„ Sometimes the point is to be sad, August. Sometimes you just have to feel it because it deserves to be felt.“
