I had heard nothing but good things about this book and spent all of yesterday that I could seeped in it.
The characters in this story are so varied and so deep, even the side characters. I felt really invested in each story and the world of their bubble of Brooklyn. August, the POV FL, was relatable without being a Mary Sue. She had flaws that stemmed from understandabl  trauma that was explored throughout the story. I also appreciated that in a book about two women falling in love she wasn't just discovering that she likes women. Yes she was inexperienced, but that is completely different. She knew her sexuality and herself in regards to what she wanted. Jane was fascinating. I don't want to go into too much detail about her because she's so crucial to the plot. But their relationship was wholesome and believable and I rooted for them.
The sci-fi aspect to this book was fun and interesting. I was able to auspend disbelief about this actually happening and just invest myself in the story. It is a bit long but I never felt the pacing dip which is highly impressive.
I'm torn on the ending and not in my traditional way. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but there's also this sadness that Biyu has to live out her time in the future. I'm glad the author mentions her family at the end but I wanted to see her reunite with them! I know it's good writing to not to do that but uch. I just want her to be happy.

I think this could make a fantastic film or miniseries.
like if it was they could show pictures of the reunion throw the credits and then I'd sob and die

August's roommates were my favorite part, i love the found family trope, which made me a little disappointed with their brief plot line resolutions, but other than that i enjoyed the plot and was satisfied with the ending. i appreciated the writing, it's improved from their debut Red, White & Royal Blue. i was extremely uncomfortable during the public sex scene 😬. 4β…œ stars
cover design review: β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†. yikes, it's just overwhelming. let's count the different typefaces: author name (1), bestselling author (2), title (3), "a novel" (4), Q line symbol (5), and tagline (6). all the different colors, three shades of purplish pink that don't go well together, the "S" is higher than the "TOP" in "STOP", Jane's posture looks stiff and unnatural, just very disappointing. the Spanish edition is gorgeous 😭 and the Portuguese edition is good too, love the art style and the easter eggs from the story but i think the character design is somewhat juvenile

When I read "Red, White and Royal Blue" I had a very different experience from my friends who read the book - in other words, I didn't feel it was worthy of 5 or 4 stars... - but one thing I did agree with is that Casey McQuiston knows how to do fluff and is a great writer. They just needed to write about people who were Just Two Regular Joes, rather than the first son and the prince. And so I gave One Last Stop a go to see what they could do when they do write about Just Two Regular Joes.

Just as I expected, they were fantastic at it. I really related to August in how she's been in school forever and doesn't know how to not be in school (I felt more than a little called out as I'll be graduating in May). I loved Niko and Myla and Wes and Jane and Isaiah. Each and every one of these characters were so unique from each other that I never had to wonder who was talking.

I don't think I was expecting the magical realism aspect of it but as soon as that showed up I was like "you know what? I actually like this, yeah, this is working for me." I wasn't sure how it would end and I thought it could go either way and still work. (Ending spoilers)
And I was glad that it ended before Jane went to talk to her parents and sisters again. I'm glad they didn't tell us how that worked out and that we were left to just imagine for ourselves.

I also appreciate Adult books that have tenderness during their sex scenes. Which is another thing McQuiston does well. The sex scenes in this book are always accompanied with moments of romantic tenderness between the two which was lovely.

Reading this book was so much fun and I can't wait for their YA debut later this year!

THIS book was just… amazing. At first, I was scared that the characters were somewhat stereotypical and that the author was just trying to get diversity points. But instead, each one of them has depth, flaws and is endlessly loveable and sooo well written. The way their personalities differ and yet add up to each other is incredible and makes the reading experience so much more realistic. The plot is a mix between mystery, jokes and some amazing plottwists which I did not see coming while staying pretty relatable (time travel aside). Iβ€˜d say that this book is mainly character driven, but most definitely not boring. It’s the perfect combination of self-reflection, character development and action. I wish I could read it for the first time again.
