I'm not sure if I've read a book with such a diverse cast before. If so, this one is still pretty high up there. Gay men, lesbians, at least one bisexual and pansexual person each, at least one trans person, multiple drag queens, mentions of non-binary people and gender non-conformity in general, lots of POC. All-in-all, that aspect of the book is fantastic. While the romance is a major point of the book, it didn't feel like THE focal point, which I enjoyed. I would say that, really, this book was about finding yourself, finding a place to belong, and found family. Equal parts sad and inspiring. I don't have much of anything negative to say about this book. I suppose the pacing felt odd in some places, but that could be because I had to return it mid-read due to holds, and wait to finish it. All-in-all, very worth the read.

Trigger warnings for One Last Stop include: drinking, drug use, sexual content, discussion of depression and anxiety; memory loss and cognitive issues; familial estrangement; familial death; grief, missing persons; and implied PTSD. As well as mentions of past homophobic violence; hate speech and hate crimes; police violence; the AIDS crisis; childhood neglect; racism, arson.

When I started this book, I didn't really know what to make of it. I couldn't really get involved with the characters, and I couldn't find anything I was going to enjoy about it. Things changed once Jane was introduced, I definitely became more interested in it.
~
One thing that I wasn't so keen on with this book is the sexually explicit scenes. And I agree that books can have those things, and that they are appropriate to be in books, it's just not something I like in my books. That being said, this is a new adult fiction book, so the characters are older and so those things are going to be more common.
~
This book also was a really nice example of the found family trope. The way Niko, Wes and Myla all fit together, and then how August and eventually Jane slot into that family. And how the fact that Myla and Niko are dating doesn't take away from the family
And when Wes has insecurities and anxieties about when they get married and how he'll fit into that plan, they help to assuage those doubts.

Fuck yes I loved this book. In the beginning it was difficult to rly get into the story or smt but it just got better and better. Just when I thought I finally figured it out, that was very much not the case. The ending was super cute. The plot was 10/10 incredible and so fucking thought-through (idk if that’s a word lmao).
