This was a really interesting look at the legacy of empire in the UK. Sanghera tackles a heavy subject with humour and his writing style and tone really worked for me. There's a lot of information here but it was easy to read. It's amazing that I learnt none of this at school and I'm interested in reading his follow up Empireworld as well.

The overall theme didn’t give me much more insight, because I was already exposed to empire „maybe not so good“ beforehand, but has a lot of interesting anecdotes. The splitting of the sources in numbered notes indicated in the text and author name sorted ones in the bibliography is confusing

Easy to read with several very good passages, even if at times I would have gone further to condemn aspects of empire the author does not.

On the whole, very strong though.
