This book is a great way to talk about anger and anger management with kids. They'll be able to identify with Fergal and why he gets angry but because he's a dragon, his reactions (fire) are exaggerated. Using that exaggerated storytelling softens the subject with kids and helps them open up to talking about what makes them mad and what they do to calm down.

Boy, do I know some kids that desperately need to read this book! It talks about dealing with anger in an easy to understand way. I found myself chuckling at some of the problems and I think kids will really enjoy this book.

This was an interesting picture book. I think it is one that I will read with my little girl when she gets to be toddler age. It speaks very well to managing emotions especially anger. I loved that Fergal's mother gave him a counting tool to manage how angry he was getting. I also enjoyed the fact that the book addressed the idea that a temper/anger issue can potentially drive people away. Artwork was cute!

I love that it gave strategies for calming down when you feel upset. I didn’t love the example of not getting dessert unless you eat veggies first because that just doesn’t jive with my feeding kids philosophy. That alone would prevent me from buying this one. Overall, it was really quite cute!

Fergal just can't keep his cool and gets "fiery"! Will he ever learn to keep his fiery in check?
I love this story! Mostly because I was obsessed with dragons growing up, who cares about unicorns I want more dragons in my books!
