I haven't been able to make it through the supposed "theory" section - the layout (RANDOM CHANGES IN TEXT SIZE!) is literally making my eyes hurt. The only thing I've gotten out of it so far is that how you want to feel should inform your goals. I think. If you feel like having goals? Or something like that.

I loved this book. It may have something to do with the outstanding group of friends that discussed this book and our CDFs during brunch but this book has definitely helped me to sparkle.

It has good things to keep in mind if not slightly strange spiritual undertones.

If you are anti-hustle and enjoy flipping scripts on their heads, this just might be the goal-setting book for you. Danielle LaPorte basically denounces every piece of goal-setting advice I’ve ever heard, and while I wouldn’t necessarily follow all of her suggestions, she is clearly an example of her own work.

She takes a spiritual approach to goal setting that is next level woo woo. But since I’m not the kind of person who throws the baby out with the bath water, I think she has a lot of really good points. Paying attention to how we want to feel has A LOT of value in achieving our goals. I know this from experience, and I highly recommend it as part of your goal setting practice.

LaPorte encourages readers to dig really deep and ask lots of thoughtful questions as they consider their goals. And I think we could all benefit from a more sensitive approach to our goals. She challenges the idea of being achievement-driven, and that really struck a chord with me.

If you don’t like new age spiritualism, don’t pick this one up. But if that doesn’t bother you, give LaPorte’s approach a try. I think she’s onto something.

I bought this book and audiobook very soon after it came out - and just couldn’t get into it at all. I found Danielle LaPorte both inspiring and deeply irritating back then! I knew there was HUGE healing in this work, but I wasn’t ready.

Fast forward a few years, and I am deeply in love with and uber grateful for this book+workbook. I journalled hard, looked underneath all of my passed pain and trauma and joyful experiences and found the woman that I have always known that I would grow into. Plus, I found a recipe for creating the life I really desire, but in a way that makes so much more sense to me than SMART goals and all of that corporate, masculine bullshit that was never designed to leak outside of the boardroom. I just needed to have healed enough for this to demonstrate just how genius it is. So incredibly grateful that I picked this “course” back up and did all the work to journal the workbook as profoundly as I did. Now I’m super stoked to hold my 5 core-desired feelings intimately in my heart for the next year (or so), and see just how much I can show up for my dreams.

PS. Also really digging Danielle LaPorte’s new podcast!

I can't say that I was blown away by this book. It took me a little while to get into it. I could have done with out the formatting, it just added to the scattered feel of the book. I did learn some things from this book though but it took entirely too long to get to the actual desire mapping. I honesly had to force myself to finishing reading the book. I will go back and do the worksheets, I also have the planner that I bought before I downloaded the book that I am going to give a go at using...thank goodness it is undated!!! Lol

A self help book for acheiving goals from an emotional starting point. As in, I want to feel a certain way. What will I do to feel the way I want to feel? The book helps you figure out how you want to feel in life, and then, what to do to get there.

Read over coffee and grapefruit- honestly- useful- but not 170$ of useful, fortunately my local library carries the whole set.

Who is the target audience?

Much less substance than Fire Starter Sessions...skip this and read that instead.
