McDermid does it again. She writes mysteries so well and makes it look so easy. Loved the characters, the plot, the pacing. Everything was wonderful.

So happy I made this my first McDermid book. Very well-written. The characters were believable and I don't recall any BS moments. So many strong, capable women!

I'm going to miss Karen. I definitely recommend this one.

I really enjoyed this one. I didn't like the ending of the last book in the series but it did allow for some really interesting themes to develop and I really enjoyed the development of Jason the Mint Murray and the relationship between him and Karen.

I liked the slight unravelling of Karen with her grief which led her to make more risky and less "by the book" policing decisions.

As always with police books, I hate how defence lawyers are portrayed in the police station. However, overall I really did enjoy this.
