This is the fourth Christina Lauren book I've read in a row and, as expected, I couldn't put it down.
The story is about Holland and Calvin, but the supporting characters (especially Holland's uncles) make this story even more enjoyable. Holland is such a relatable character - doubting her own worth while trying to figure out her place in life. She's sweet, kind, talented (but totally in denial of it) who falls hard for a guitarist who plays regularly at the subway. He's trying to make his dreams come true and Holland is lucky enough to be in the position to make that possible.
One of the things that I love most about Christina Lauren books is that they twist and turn. Just when you think you've figured it out and the story will come to a happy conclusion, something else breaks loose and takes your emotions with it. These books are like a drug - highly addictive and oh so satisfying.

I was not impressed with the writing or the story or the sexy bits! It was just kinda a crazy story that reminded me a lot of Hamilton! Wasn’t as good as I hoped!

Roomies" is everything I expect from these two writers: fun and funny, tender and confusing, unbelievable and then they make me believe. Has the story been done before? Of course! But isn't that true for all romance stories? And isn't part of why we love them and read them because they give us a certain predictability that helps us relax into the words in the way heavy-duty, highly challenging literature cannot?
But here's the thing about Christina Lauren: they write so well, the characters are so lovingly developed, the plots insane—but insanely great—that I could almost believe their books are the literature of the romance genre. This book gave me hope at the beginning of 2018, when the real world is entirely too real. This book made me laugh, sigh, groan, and sweat—and doesn't all good reading do that?!
So I'm glad to "be back," reading the sweet, crazy, lovely words of Christina Lauren again, and if you enjoyed their Wild Seasons series in particular, I think you will be charmed and delighted by "Roomies."

I REALLY wanted to give this book five stars. So many juicy tropes! Hot Irish musician, marriage of convenience, Broadway setting BUT something just didn’t land for me. Loved the audiobook narration.
