I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed, even the secondary characters. You may not agree with their decisions, but you understand where they’re coming from. The backdrop of NYC’s Broadway district was brought to life, you could feel yourself walking around & roaming the streets & subway. The main characters were nice people you would really like to know. Holland was fun & her angst over certain issues felt deserved instead of her just whining about everything. But my favorite was Calvin. I just loved everything about him. He had a little bit of a “too good to be true” vibe, but he still had a couple of character flaws. He was overall dreamy. In all, this was a great book & I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun, sexy story with a little angst.

This book was a lot of fun. Still, I think Holland and Calvin’s relationship went a bit too smoothly (even with the problems they had) and the immigration process was also unrealistic — too easy of a resolution. I couldn’t put this book down, though (well, it was a Kindle, but still).

This is the third Christina Lauren book I've read this weekend. Years and years ago I remember reading the office and it was a fanfic and I loved it. I loved their energy. I couldn't wait for the updates. I loved everything about their cute little notes at the end and beginning of the stories. I knew they had released the office as beautiful bastard as a book. But I didn't realize how much they had written and now I am devouring and all the books they have ever written as fast as I can. I'm so sad I didn't realize that these were out in the world until right now. I'm so happy to have found their writing again because I enjoy the energy and overall style of their writing. They are great partners and I hope they keep writing for many years to come. I really enjoyed this book and the other two I read this weekend. I wish the book had more of an epilogue though to see where these characters ended up. That would be my only criticism. Otherwise I got lost in the music and the love story between Holland and Calvin. Great book! I've already started the next one on my list.

Just very ok… another romance book that should be titled “If only they would communicate”

You know there are books that start off strong and you are into them, but towards the end things just start to annoy you especially when it comes to characters choices and growth.

Well if you do know what I am talking about, then you guessed it right, this book made me feel this way.

I didn't know much about this book, other than that Chelsea from chelseadolling reads liked it and I usually really end up liking her contemporary picks a looot. However this time it was not the case unfortunately.

I just want to highlight that I DID ENJOY IT, but the ending ruined it for me and i had some issues with Holland which is the main female character here.

There will be no spoilers, at least I will try my best not to spoil you guys.

Therefore I am going to split my review into 2 sections THINGS I DID LIKE and THINGS I DID NOT LIKE.

THINGS I DID LIKE:

  • music!!! we had a lot of music going on here and a cute guy playing a guitar ???

cmon which girl could resist to this?? Besides guitar is my instrument too so much LOVE HERE FROM ME!!

  • DIVERSITY!! Apparently this month is the month for diverse books for me and I am all for it! Give me more please!!

Holland's uncles were the sweetest and I must say that I would love IT if the authors could write a book for them only, I totally ship that! Please consider it!!

  • did I hear IRELAND ? Cuz boy this is MY DREAM PLACE

THINGS I DID NOT LIKE:

  • Holland! I am sorry I just did not click with her character and personality. I found her immature at times and what she did towards the end to Calvin was

Резултат с изображение за bitch what gif

this below is a mild SPOILER so read at your own risk

I mean you both knew what you are getting into and  now you pretend for things you did not do yourself as well. and then blame it on him only, when you are at fault too.. does that make sense??

Did not get it, instead of talking things out like a normal mature people she just cut him off for more than a month by ignoring him and not wanting to talk to him. Bitch even kids in kindergarten don't do that anymore .... uhm yeahh nooo...

  • Lulu was the most messed up character I have recently read about. Girl just get your sh*t together please....

  •  everything happened way too fast and I found myself blinking blindly at times because I felt like I missed something

  • the ending this was a deal breaker for me i was not amused...

Overall I gave it 3 stars, it still was a light, cute contemporary but we did not click with each other that much.

I still recommend it though, so do not hesitate to pick it up!

Christina Lauren are my comfort rom-com authors, and I've been loving making my way through their backlist with my friends.

Roomies was my first marriage of convenience romance, and I loved the unique circumstances surrounding their arrangement, and the FMC's personal journey to get past her failure-to-launch situation and work on her feelings of self-worth.

I loved her uncles and the support they showed her, and the behind-the-scenes Broadway storyline and musical aspects. I even appreciated the characters to dislike.

However, I did struggle to connect with the romance and trust the MMC—probably because we weren't in his head.

And while the last 20-25% was chaotic with A LOT going on, overall this was an enjoyable read.
