I loved all of the characters (except for Lulu, she’s garbage) and truly wished there were at least another two or three chapters. Fun, easy read that you get quickly pulled into - like all of CL’s books.

3rd favorite Christina Lauren book! The story is unique but have plenty of the cliches! I enjoyed the fact that Christina Lauren went down the broadway stardom in this book instead of the rockstar-hollywood style music stardom. Can't wait for the movie!

I enjoyed the book, like any other of Christina Lauren books. In am a big fan of all their adult books! Now that being said, the book was good but I do audiobooks, and the person they choose to narrated sucked. She was reading the book with a sing sing voice more adept for a children's book than adult themed book. So, if you are planning on listening to this book I would recommend to just read it and skip the audio book, because for me this narrator ruined the book.

For months Holland Bakker, has made some sort of excuse to descend the steps into the subway station near her apartment, drawn by the music of a captivating musician. Lacking the nerve to actually talk to this person. Fate steps in one night in the form of a drunken attacker. Calvin rescues her but quickly disappears when the police start asking questions. The only resource she has to pay the musician back, Holland gets Calvin an audition with her uncle, Broadway's hottest director. When the tryout goes better than Holland imagined. Calvin is set for his entry onto broadway, until his reason for disappearing becomes clear: he is in the country illegally, his student visa expired year ago.
Seeing that her uncle needs Calvin as much as Calvin needs him. A wild idea starts to take form. She decides impulsively to marry the Irishman. As the relationship evolves and Calvin becomes a broadway heartthrob. Will they eventually come to realize that they both stopped pretending along time ago?

If you think you are getting a book about female/ male roommates falling in love and being together you are wrong and this is not that book. I enjoyed this book a bit, it was not my favourite Christina Lauren book but it was enjoyable none the less. I will say that these authors pay attention to detail and I am really glad that they do because honestly sometimes that's what makes or breaks a story. I finished this book quite fast and it was decent but at the same time I don't know if I felt a connection with these characters and them being together. I felt like the were so different and just didn't work. I still enjoyed the story none the less. I will say that Christina Lauren and their team always kill it with the cover of their books, because they always look so good and or beautiful. It was steamy I will give it that. I love little rom com books, especially if I just finished a heavier book. When finishing this book I had no idea what to rate it, so I left it unrated for a bit, but now it's about a 3 because honestly it was just meh in my opinion. Near the end of this book I did get bored because I just felt like it was dragging on and on. This book kind of makes you feel giddy in a cute sense but other than that it was just a meh book. I like how this book also focused on self growth and not the trope the whole time. Also I don't know if Calvin would be hot, the accent would be but I think that's it otherwise he's just some guy down in the subway station. Happy Reading!!!!!

I do still have a lot of Christina Lauren's books to read which I am so excited about and can't wait to read and see what they are about.

DNF.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am not a fan of marriage-of-convenience tropes, especially between strangers. This novel lacked so much communication and I didn’t feel the emotions at all; just overall meh.

Holy Crap!

This book was freaking amazing. GAH! Words actually fail me...

Before I jump into my review, I have to tell you that I am a music brat. What does that mean? I was surrounded by music my entire life. From traveling to DCI competitions since before I can remember to playing the violin from the 2nd grade to my high school graduation, music has always been a large part of my life. I absolutely love musicals and I even got to play in the orchestra my high school's annual musical my senior year. As much fun as that was... I still can't watch The Sound of Music without cringing. No told told me about the long ass rehearsals...

Why am I sharing this? Well, when I found out that Christina Lauren was going to sign at The Ripped Bodice this Sunday, I immediately went searching for a book to read. I remember hearing about Roomies around the blogosphere and once I read the synopsis I was all over it. Not going to lie, I struggled with it at the beginning. I was fighting off a reading slump because I had no desire to read. I fought through it. Kept going back to Holland and Calvin for the small amount of time my brain allowed me to read. Once it finally clicked and I was good to go, I finished 75% of it in a matter of hours. It was amazing!

As my first Christina Lauren book, Roomies knocked it out of the mother-effing ballpark. This book made me giggle-snort and bawl like a freaking baby. We're talking full on ugly cry from which there was no going back. Once we clicked, I didn't want Roomies to end. I was hooked. I loved watching Holland grow as an individual. She went from being comfortable in the shadows to a fully confident woman on the verge of tackling the publishing world. Calvin was no slouch, either. Through his moments of being absolutely oblivious, he too grew as a character who's dream is about to come true. Maybe not as much as Holland, but that doesn't minimize his progress at all. The only character I could not stand was Lulu... For obvious reasons...

Now that I've finally read a Christina Lauren book I need to pick up Beautiful Bastard. I don't know when, I just know it will happen. And hopefully soon.

Now I hope Roomies didn't sent me into a book hangover...

I received an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Not my favorite Christina Lauren romance but it was good. I like the ones with more sexy banter like The Unhoneymooners and Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating.
