DNF at 53%. Something just wasn’t clicking. The pacing might have been off for my taste or the characterizations.

Ok so like plot wise this book is great but it feels a bit rushed; or at least the ending is. The ramp up to the final scene is just a little lacking but I love these characters and am always a Duran Fan (lol)

I always enjoy MD. Not as much as I used to but she's a good writer and her characters are always fairly unique and different enough from her earlier books to keep your interest. I really liked Uncle Nick and Lily's employer, Catherine. Figured they were the next book and turns out they were.

This was more like a 3.5 for me. I liked it more than [b:That Scandalous Summer|14822924|That Scandalous Summer (Rules for the Reckless, #1)|Meredith Duran|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1364942113s/14822924.jpg|20476452] but not as much as [b:Fool Me Twice|18143986|Fool Me Twice (Rules for the Reckless, #2)|Meredith Duran|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1379585048s/18143986.jpg|25491311].

It took me a while to get into. The first couple of chapters didn't really pull me in and I was quite happy to put the book down and not go back to it for a few days, I really enjoyed the middle and then the end... I'm not sure whether I was disappointed or happy or what.

Really looking forward to the next book - I'm hoping it turns out more like Fool Me Twice and every other book is REALLY REALLY GOOD.

I didn't think I would love this book by reading the blurb but I actually do, which is a nice surprise. The pacing is good (not a single dull moment!) and the characters are simply great. This book cements my opinion that Meredith Duran simply couldn't write badly. This book actually got me pretty excited to read the next one in the series which is Luck Be A Lady (this book is about Nick O'Shea - lord of the underworlds and Lady Catherine Everleigh - the ice queen, I'm wondering how's that going to play out?)

This one was a solid 4 star for me. I’m jumping around in this series, as this is the second one I’ve read. The first being #6 The Sins of Lord Lockwood. Liked that one too.

I put off reading this for a long time because I kept hearing how bad it was and how subpar compared to other books by Meredith Duran, but I liked it. I should've read it sooner! It's not my favorite of her novels, but it kept me entertained the whole time. Even the least of Meredith Duran's books is superior to most of what's out there these days. A solid 3.8, I'd say. ;)
