Our Last Resort is a crime thriller that keeps you locked in from the first page to the last. Between the cultish upbringing, a nationally-covered murder, and a fresh case where all signs point to the main characters, there’s plenty to unravel—yet every time you think you’ve got it, another twist hits.

It’s gripping, layered, and refuses to let you get comfortable.

How well do we know the people we love? This blends past and present timelines to tell a story that is both a murder mystery and psychological drama with a cult premise. The cult backstory is intriguing. These characters spent their childhood in a cult, and it affects them in present day. The plot is set up well, and there is a lot of building tension. It has a well written plot, but nothing that was shocking. The pacing was a bit slow in some parts. Overall, it was a decent read with a good story, but it lacked in pacing.

This one had a moving dual timeline…..I loved having the past exposed year by year throughout the present day story, revealing the foundation of the main characters’ relationship.  The past timeline was also cult heavy and who doesn't love a good cult storyline?  There was one big twist that had my jaw hanging open, and overall this was a good story.  Not as fabulous as The Quiet Tenant but still pretty good.

just not having a good time with this one and it’s putting me in a reading slump. i love cult books but this was extremely basic and boring.

I enjoyed this little thriller! While a lot of readers raved about this author’s debut novel, I wasn’t wowed by it. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it like everybody else seem to.

But this one, I’m glad I gave it a shot because I liked it! It had a very unique premise, which was refreshing!
