This was delightful! I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

I read, or tried to read, this one in Dutch, but will write a little bit in English. This was one of my most anticipated books of 2016.
I got to page 100+ and I just couldn't read any further. Endless descriptions that just tired me. Instead of seeing the world, I just saw a blur of rainbow puke (since everything was supposedly so full of colour). Poetic words that sometimes don't bother me, but in this one it did. Pretentious, fancy words/language that just didn't fit. I didn't like the MC, she was just meh to me. Olivier was even worse. Our MC's mom was terrible.

This was such a fun, whimsical middle grade story, and I really enjoyed reading it. I felt the middle dragged on a bit in a way that didn't necessarily enhance the story for me. I loved the message that this had for young readers though, and I am excited to read the next book!

I thought this was really cute and very whimsical. The writing style fit the story really well, but at about halfway through the book I started feeling like it was just really dragging on. I also didn't like the ending - nothing really happened with the plot until about 10 or 15 pages from the end, and then everything wrapped up really neatly.

i love love love taherah mafi's writing and i love the concept behind this book i just... didn't like it as much as i hoped i would; the beginning dragged, the ending was rushed. the characters were great though and i enjoyed the story!

I didn't really care for the story here, but the only reason I'm giving this three stars over two is because of Bronson Pinchot's narration. He is my absolute favorite Audible narrator, and when I downloaded this book randomly while on the train, I actually whooped out loud when I heard it was narrated by Bronson (he played Balki in the 80's TV show 'Perfect Stranger's'...remember him?).

Aside from that, I found the story to be slow and very over-written. None of the characters were particularly likable, and we're TOLD everything instead of shown, which is not a way of writing that I particularly care for. This is my first book by Tahereh Mafi, and I'm sure it will be my last.

This book was a bit everywhere which made it difficult to want to follow. It was quirky, and had a beautiful life lesson which is why I enjoyed the book. This book had lots of twists and wasn’t at all what it seemed. It is worth the read, just be aware it’s a bunch of nonsense compiled into a book.

I have to say, this book is unlike any book I’ve ever read, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s such a fantastic, wildly imaginative book with marvelous story telling and I could just go on and on!

The land of Furthermore is so weirdly fantastic that I have to admit it was a little difficult to keep up at times. There are so many new rules about the different parts of Furthermore and logic pretty much went sideways about 100 pages ago, but it is definitely fun to read about. I was actually expecting Furthermore to be more like Ferenwood, maybe a little more dangerous like the synopsis said, but I didn’t think it would be so dark.

In the end, I think Furthermore is a wonderful story about family, friendship and embracing your differences told in beautifully written prose. I definitely recommend it!
