An extremely difficult book to read emotionally, especially against today's political climate, it forces us to not look away and also to ask how much has changed (not much). The world looks away as fellow humans are suffering, the evil and corruption that persists even amidst war. It can feel aimless, as there is no overarcing plot, but it forces you to sit with your humanity.

A moving and tightly-written book about an area of history I did not know much about. It conjures the feelings of war very realistically through vivid details and observations and is therefore very immersive and readable. I would recommend to anyone wanting to know more about the siege of Sarajevo.

A tragically beautiful novel about music, suffering, and the things that keep us human.
