Thank you to @authordanielaromero @baddiesbookbox and @hambright_pr for sending me this copy.

Okay so I admit that I don’t read a lot of dark romance. I have learned myself over the years, and know that I need to be in a particular type of mood to enjoy them. When I saw the tropes and blurb for this one, I was like “yeah I can do that” and I ended up really enjoying it. My daughter was at her grandma’s, and my husband was sleeping in, so I ended up binging the entire audio in one sitting. I was enthralled and just needed to know what was going on. Gabriel was admittedly a jerk in the beginning, but he was totally taken by Cecilia. It took her a while to come around, but he didn’t give up and they ended up bonding over their traumas. I felt that he was a tad bit forceful, and maybe a bit too much so for my tastes, but for this book, it didn’t really feel out of place. Some pretty horrible things happen so please check your triggers.

I listened to this one on audio, and it was dual narrated. It was perfectly done and is available on audible August 6th. I also followed along in my e-copy (my special edition is my shelf trophy

The Savage

Thank you to the author and Hambright PR for the ALC

honestly should've have read this. it's a good story but he has too much of a savior complex and she's too resistant to any type of help. it was fine

Cecelia and Gabriel are both broken college students (read the triggers in the beginning!) Gabriel is protective, possessive, yet sweet. Cecelia has difficulty trusting (with good reason) and is cautious to try new things at college. Together, they just make sense.

A bit darker than my usual, I still inhaled it and was rooting for them! It ends on a cliffhanger but book two is out now and on KU (be warned: there’s also a cliffhanger in book two, but the third comes out soon!) I Received an advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

My thoughts on The Savage by Daniela Romero:

Thank you, @hambright_pr and @authordanielaromeo, for gifting me the ebook and audiobook copy of The Savage.

The story of Gabriel and Cecilia was one that made me self-reflect on mine while I was listening to the audiobook. I felt so many emotions for this book that I was feeling like I was part of their journey together.

Ramona Master and Noah B. Perez did a good job narrating the parts of Cecilia and Gabriel. They brought the characters to life and really showed those intense moments as well throughout the book. This book opens up on some heavy topics, though I have to say that Daniela Romero still hooked me on the story she crafted in The Savage. Though it ended on a cliffhanger, I'm now looking forward to reading book 2 to see what's next for Gabriel and Cecilia's journey.

Cecelia and Gabriel hit me with the heartbreaking feels from minute one of The Savage! They have both individually been dealt such heavy traumas (make sure you check those TWs). The way Cecelia and Gabriel begin to really see each other to try to find a way to heal is so equally heartwarming and heartbreaking. Ramona Master and Noah B. Perez truly bring Cecelia and Gabriel to life in the audiobook of The Savage. You feel Cecelia and Gabriel's pain, their fear, their heartbreak, and their hope through their voices.

A quick, read in one sitting book. Romero pulls on readers' emotions and adds just enough tension to keep readers hooked.
