Cecilia and Gabriel's story is a spin-off series from Devils of Sun Valley, these two broken souls have gone through a lot, it's an emotional rollercoaster you can't stop reading. This story has some trigger warnings for some readers. The story will captivate you, and make your heartache and your mind wander into their world. Their past is not easy. Gabriel's protectiveness will have you falling for him, they have great chemistry and I can't wait to find out how their story continues.

it’s good but it doesn’t need to be a series, they could have wrapped everything up in one book

3.5 stars

What a powerful book with serious topics. If you have triggers refer to the warnings before reading, they are heavy and descriptive.

The emotion behind this book is very intense. I had to sit with my feeling when I finished to truly grasp the power this storyline had! The trauma bond that brings Gabriel and Cecilia together is so strong and feels very real and vulnerability on full display.

Gabriel was that kind of MC you want for yourself or your daughter. He is protective, never giving up on her or for her peace. Which is incredible with everything he’s been through with his own family trauma.

This book has dark moments, authenticity and real moments, and focuses a lot on mental health. I love the found family aspect too.

The book ends on a cliffhanger and in some ways, I felt the resolution wasn’t complete and with topics as heavy as the ones outlined in this book, I wish there was more.

I absolutely love Gabe and Cecilia. Their story is heartbreakingly beautiful. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. You get all the feels with some difficult subject matters. There is great character development. But be warned you are left with a cliffhanger.

For readers who crave a passionate and intense romance with a dash of forbidden love, this is a must-read, offering a captivating tale of a complex and brooding hero and a strong-willed heroine navigating the blurred lines between love and danger.

The Savage by Daniela Romero is a college sports romance dealing with some pretty heavy topics. There are some major TW including Sexual Assault (and resulting emotional harm), Suicide, Suicidal Ideations and Grief (aftermath of the loss of a sibling). The same trigger warnings apply to this review because I am going to be taking about them.

This book is not a standalone and continues the main characters stories in the Striker.

Reading these TW I knew this book was going to be heavy but I didn’t think it was going to tackle these topics in such vivid detail. However I think Daniella did a great job showing the real raw side to these difficult topics. She showed the panic, the anger, the despair, and the constant uncertainty so incredibly well. It was like she was writing from experience. while I hope she wasn’t statistically 1 in 6 women are subjected to Sexual Assault at least once in their lifetime.

Cecilia was too relatable for me as a woman who has been in a similar situation. But my heart hurt for her as not only was she violated her attacker continued to harass her, violate her boundaries and taunt her. The word NO is a complete sentence and it was one that jerk didn’t understand.

Gabriel’s friends were so heartwarming. And their bond was so perfect.

I loved Gabriel but he also frustrated me. Some spoilers next: Having lost his twin brother to suicide and watching his family fall apart, he is angry. So when he finds a young woman barely alive and is able to save her, he makes it his mission to make sure she stays alive. What I loved was his unwavering support and commitment to Cecilia but I didn’t love his approach. It did have compassion but it also had so much misdirected anger. He want to help her and he will do anything to accomplish that.

This book is heavy and please check the trigger warnings because i can see this being too much for some people. i was invested in the protagonist and her story. it was hard to read at times and i felt for the characters. the romance felt like it semi took a backseat to what was happening in the characters lives and im honestly okay with that.

Whewwwww buddy. I was not prepared. I felt all the emotions listening to this one. It does cover heavy subjects, including some major triggers like self harm and S. Assault, so make sure you check the full content warning list before diving in. These two main characters had my heart. The trauma both of them went through and the broken pieces they weren’t hiding very well were so evident in the writing. The way these two were drawn to each other and the feelings they had were palpable. I was not in any way shape or form prepared for the ending, and I am so glad I have the second one queued up and ready to go, because in not done with these two yet.

Gabe only knew her as the girl he discovered bleeding out in the locker room, but now thanks to his teammate he knows her name. Cece, he calls her. But she corrects him to Cecelia and she walks away. Something isn’t right there, and his teammate’s story isn’t matching her actions. When he sees her in the pool, he realizes she is going to try again. And he isn’t going to let her. He might not have been able to save his twin, but he is going to save Cecelia.

Thank you to Hambright PR for the copy of the audiobook, all thoughts are my own.
