I know I wasn't expecting much, considering how I think of the previous books. I mean, the first two were good, but then somewhere it went downhill for me. And this one is no exception.

A couple things that came to mind when I read were, "wow, these guys sure have serious daddy issues? What's wrong with people from this era?" and then "How come Colin Bridgerton sounds more delightful in other's stories but his own?!", and finally "wow, to think that I read this within a week after actual BAMF Duke of Edinburgh passing is like... Was my subconsciousness picturing DoE as sir Philip in the story? That wouldn't be fair for both days even though they shared a name."

But anyway, Eloise has always been a delight. I think this has the same issue with Colin. Both are fun and delightful when they are not in the spotlight. Once they do, they became very much ordinary. It's sad how Eloise didn't get much of a characterization here, other than a spinster who is surprisingly harbor a secret envy as her best friend became her sis in law. So she decided to ran off.

Idk, I guess I was somewhat expecting more, somewhat thanks to you DoE, like... Idk, perhaps more on how Eloise is as a person, not as a Bridgerton. I think the author did it well on Daphne and Anthony.

Eloise is lovely and her relationship with the kids is great...but phillip shows so many red flags i could not really get behind this one.

Phillip gave me the ICK so bad. Eloise deserved so much better. Yikes.

I just know Sir Philip would run an Alpha Male podcast where he talks about being a “high value male” and the time he took shrooms and how it taught him basic empathy
