Two Bengali girls in Dublin agree to fake date (for reasons that don't really make sense) in this YA romance.
It's actually a bit light on the romance for a romance novel though, so I didn't get invested. Other parts of the story were more engaging, with the queer Muslim author bringing a new (to me) perspective and insights into Bengali culture in Ireland.

I loved this book so much it was so sweet and one of the best romance books I've ever read loved the drama and the complex relationships between characters
Hani and Ishu, the only two Bangladeshi students at their Irish all-girl’s school, have reasons to “date” the other. Hani needs her friends to understand that she is bisexual; which they seem incapable of unless she also goes out with a girl. Ishu needs to be voted head girl of their school; something she can’t do on her own since she has spent all her time studying and none socializing. They both have something to gain from their fake relationship, and neither intends to ruin everything by developing real feelings.
This book combines the shenanigans of the fake dating trope with serious issues such as: toxic friendships, racism, and bi-phobia. Author Adiba Jaigirdar is wonderful at creating characters that are flawed but still loveable and very human. If you like audiobooks, this book’s, narrated by Reena Dutt and Shuhanigi Karmakar, is AMAZING. -Dominique A.

soooo cute. heartstopper vibes which i loved
fast-paced
This was a fun story that also tackles real issues like racism and homophobia. Although the ending was predictable, I enjoyed the story to get there.
Looking forward to reading more of Adiba Jaigirdar's work in the future.
