Mesmerizing. This book kept me engaged the whole way. I loved the format of the book, though my brain had difficulty letting go of it’s  need to stop reading only if it’s neatly at the end of a chapter. This book does a great job of discussing difficult topics and moral dilemmas in a way that is also entertaining- not in the typical dry textbook way or trying to force the dissection of everything, sometimes a red light is just a red light folks. But it if you look deeper, you come away with more than you first believed. Would definitely recommend!

Wow. I had this book on hold for so long at the library that I forgot what it's about. This is the obsessive Jodi Picoult reading that I remember from her earlier books. Good stuff

There was a lot about this book that I loved. The long sections in which Josef and Minka were the narrators were extremely compelling, especially Minka's section. It was really the storytelling in Minka's part where I found I couldn't really put the book down. It is what drove me to keep reading and made me feel that I needed to see how the book ended.

I was pretty annoyed by Sage's character a lot of the time, though. She seemed pretty unreliable as a narrator. The whole time she seemed to be in the midst of a descent into madness. The end was the worst. The end of the book, for me, was Sage's most disappointing moment, and her weakest, as well. Also a lot of details were just kind of - ick. Sage's sister's names: Saffron and Pepper. The dread-locked coffee guy who speaks only in haiku.

Minka's story was heartbreaking and well written. The rest was dross. Picoult needs a new editor.
