Deeply mid. Very repetitive, with the authors favorite phrases being “roiled”, “pockmarked” and “bile”. Oh, and “WHAT THE FUCK”. The plot was interesting but the pacing was off, with some parts stretching too long and others being too short. Overall wasn’t super satisfying.

I really wanted to like this, and at first I did, but by ~75-80% I was pretty over it and ready for the story to wrap up.

Great premise and opening but it kept progressively falling flatter. The monsters/ghosts/whatevers felt very undefined but not in an intentionally ambiguous way.

Megan Tusing’s audio narration was really great and I’ll definitely be looking for more of her narrations.

1.5 stars. I should have loved this. I’m into climbing and spooky forest stories but this did not do it for me at all. It didn’t really make sense. I also hate when books tell you the ending in the opening sequence like come on… I was into it in the beginning but was ready to DNF at 60%, I skimmed the last 75 pages.
