I cannot believe this is a debut novel. Straight up fucking bone chilling.

Summary: 4 campers and a dog venture out to the woods for a research project/mountain climbing adventure only for things to go completely and HORRIBLY wrong.

Basically, the minute they find the place, it's kinda like, ope.
Welp, there it is.

Fans of the Ritual by Adam Nevill should definitely give this one a go, especially anyone who enjoys a good story about getting lost in the woods, Indian burial ground, and freaky cannibal ghosts.

Just to note, the story does go back and forth a bit between centuries and the aftermath of what happens, but I don't think it distracted too much of the story. If anything, it gave some background on the other characters and what happened to them.

Very atmospheric, a “there’s something wrong here but we don’t know what so we’ll keep on going” story. Some of the “flashbacks” get a bit confusing but it’s an important bit to the story. Overall, it kept my interest.

Survival horror. This book was fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was thrilling! Great read and got me out of my reading slump. If you don’t like paranormal fiction, this isn’t something you’d like.
