First book I've actually finished that I hated this much. Usually I would just stop reading. But, a friend LOVED it, and I didn't want to admit I gave up. It was supposed to be really funny, but I found it dumb instead.

I've read all of Carl Hiaasen's books and I'd have to say this one was a bit lackluster for him. Enjoyable, as always, funny characters but the hijinks were a bit reserved. I always look forward to his books though, light, funny reads.

I love this book (it's my third time reading it) because the female protagonist is as obsessed with decency, civility, and making something of one's life as I am. And that's a relief.

Also, it's wackily funny as only Carl Hiaasen can be.

This book was funny and fun and it takes place in a town near my community, which I loved. I liked how Hiaasin caputured the quirks of the people who live in the Everglades and manages to get in a bit of history at the same time. It is a great beach book.

I loved this book. I thought it had everything that makes a good book. It was funny, and romantic in ways. It was thrilling and unexpected. Definitely gonna read some more Carl Hiaasen books.

This is classic Carl Hiassen territory: loveable people maintaining a tenuous grip on reality plus mercenary slime balls who outwit themselves, with occasional Everglades wildlife thrown in. I read it in a hospital waiting room, and it was the perfect diversion.

A light, easy read. Not overly compelling or exciting, but a decent “filler” book

Honey Santana is a great character - however, books don't just make it on one great character. This story is entertaining but it felt like I had heard this tale before. It wasn't that the story was predictable, it was just that I knew these were wacky people, plopped down in a strange place (Florida, natch), and that predictably bizarre things would soon take place. I listened to this book on my morning commutes to work - my first full week back at the archives - so it at least accomplished the job of getting my mind off my mind. But I think Carl needs to find new inspiration.

“On the internet I read how your tribe never surrendered, not ever. That’s cool,” said Fry.
“Depends what you mean by ‘surrendered’. They booked Justin Timberlake at the Seminole Hard Rock for New Years.”

This was as outrageous as it was clever. Classic Hiaasen

I reviewed this one on YouTube! https://youtu.be/TVCtDB8pgAc
