Hilarious. I almost busted a few stitches with this one.

Not Hiaasen's best work, but enjoyable overall.

I really liked the Aboriginal character in this book. I thought his self-talk was fairly realistic even though it was a humorous book. The book itself was a typical Carl Hiaasen book with crazy characters and an environmentalist bent. I like to read his books because I am a Snowbird from Canada who spends 6 months each year in Florida. I like the way a native Floridian can make fun of the people in his own state.

I have to put my rating into context: this is a Hiaasen book, which means it's absolutely awesome. But having said that, it is not my favorite Hiaasen (I'm grading on a Hiaasen curve).
What continues to amaze me about Hiaasen is that he can make these awesome, nutty characters and weave a great story around the message of environmental responsibility. What I would love to see is Honey Santana revived in a Skink novel, because that would be outstanding.
Also, understand that I'm a little off-kilter on this one because, while I remember the days of intrusive telemarketing, it is so far in the past and so easy to get around now, that it's hard to fathom such a thing setting off this sort of chain reaction, mental illness or not.

PS Challenge 2017: A book by a person I admire

This was absurdly entertaining. Classic Florida news story.

Funny with lots of adventure. It's got Indian(s), a sorority girl, bipolar craziness, and much more!

So many seemingly disparate stories converging....

I normally find Hiassen pretty humorous but I just didn't like the main character of this one I guess. It was weird more than funny.

It's classic Hiaasen. Good, but crazy protagonists, really bad villians who get really horrible punishment. A nice portrayal of someone with bipolar disorder, off meds, and her son who tries to take care of her, actually.

Not a single likable character in the book, so I didn’t care about the plot. I read to the end hoping for improvement that never came.
