I cried over and over while reading these poems. Amanda Gorman is a master wordsmith. No wonder she is First National Youth Poet Laureate. I will be rereading these poems for years to come. “This book does not let up” is the most accurate line. If you love poetry, please read this book.

A poetry collection everyone can relate to whether they want to or not. Amanda Gorman is the future of poetry.

As with any book of poetry, I feel like judgment is very subjective because it is based on your preferred style of poetry rather than “quality” (honestly with any writing).. so it is kind of hard to judge. Some of it was incredibly creative, and some of it felt very forced.

Some of my favorites:

War: What, is it good?
The Soldiers (or Plummer)
Text Tiles: The Names
The Surveyed
