4.5 stars - truly this was such a wonderful read, simple and so complex all the same. i knew this would resonate with me, but i also learned so much about the stories i thought i knew but evidently didn’t. i love how much lamya was able to connect her own life experiences to these stories in the quran, how much she is able to feel like her most authentic self without feeling that she needs to give up one or the other, her queerness or being muslim. so much love for this and the queer muslim community

Bookclub September, I loved it, I especially liked the early chapters on finding sapphic representation in the Quran, the struggles of being spiritual and finding internally the religious elements that make up your personal beliefs
This book easily has made my top 10 books of all time.

This book was really beautiful. I already loved Islam and the Qur’an, and being able to hear stories from it alongside stories from the authors life was really wonderful. It was a very literal application of scripture to life and I really enjoyed it. I especially loved that these scriptures were interpreted in a way that might be out of the ordinary. This book was a beautiful love letter to faith, perseverance and telling your own story.
