Reading the first third of this book was one of the best reading experiences I’ve ever had. The second third lulled a little but I was enthralled again by the last third.

The analysis of the Quran, especially as a metaphor for chapters of Lamya’s life, reminded me of lit hum. But it’s not a book I’d add to the syllabus.

Loved the structure that advanced and receded through time. Did remind me of a 12 bar blues song structure — repetition, analogy, progression, regression.
