What can I say? The perfect introduction to Westerns. Even after having seen the show first the books is thrilling and it gave me even more depth to the characters and the storyline!

A must read!

"When you play the game of thrones, you win, or you die."

I was frightened as much as I was excited to start reading ASOIAF because I've already watched the GOT series. I wanted to enjoy it to the fullest without feeling underwhelmed, and I was definitely not let down. George R.R. Martin did not disappoint; his writing is simply breathtaking. I found myself enjoying the book miles more than the tv series at many instances.

I loved this book from start to end, and some of my favorite parts were Tyrion and Jon's interactions at the beginning, Robb comforting Bran and promising him an adventure, and Varys and Ned's prison scene. It was just gorgeous.

I obviously loved Tyrion and Ned's povs. However, what surprised me was that I found myself enjoying Jon's povs a lot. I didn't expect that at all because I genuinely didn't care for Jon until later seasons when I watched GOT.

"Perhaps I will die too, she told herself, and the thought did not seem so terrible to her."

I also loved Sansa's povs, especially the way we can see her character's progression throughout the book. Her chapter after Ned's death is definitely one of my favorites.

One more thing, Catelyn's "It should've been you" to Jon shook me to the core. Poor boy didn't deserve that.

Overall, I loved loved LOVED this. Can't wait to read the rest!!
