I pretty much had to force myself to finish this book. Literally the only thing good about this book was how the cover of the book really connected to the story. I read in the back that a fan made the cover of the book which is pretty cool.
Meh. I had to force myself to continue reading (and only did because I'm procrastinating another book and can't justify starting anything else for fun). Anyway ... I never cared one whit for any of the characters OR their circumstances. Yawn ...
definitely a book of its age (so much casual use of the r word) but still quite enjoyable. a bit cheesy in true john green fashion but there is a reason this was my favorite novel of his for several years! i think the summer romance and math/anagrams/prodigy part of it are quite cute and fun
While I did like the concept of the story, I just did not feel like picking it up at all! The paperback copy of this book has been sitting on my shelves for YEARS, and let me tell you, there have been moments where I felt like I wanted to get rid of it. But I didn’t. I just felt like I should finish the John Green collection, even though the only book that I really liked was The Fault in Our Stars. The rest were mediocre. But there I went. I finally read it. I decided to pick it up on Audiobook, because you know, I have to travel up and down to university anyways, so that would mean I had plenty of time to listen to it. I didn’t like it.
Colin Singleton used to be a child prodigy, and he loves words and facts, which is also why he ended up dating about 19 Katherines, specifically written this way. After his break up, his one and only friend, Hassan, invites him on a road to get over the break up. Cute, I like road trips in books, especially with a little romance here and there. They end up in Gutshot, Tennessee, where they end up finding a job, and Colin is trying to figure out how to solve his problem about predicting how long a relationship will last, and who will do the dumping.
Maybe it was the fact that the book contained so much math that I did not connect very well with the book. I do know for sure that if I had actually read the book, I probably would have put it down and not have picked up again. Thankfully the audiobook kept me going, and also the fact that I have to do something during my quite long bus rides.
Overall, not my thing, but others might like it.
