Some parts of this aged really poorly and some of it was kind of annoying teenage boy humor, but there were also some moments of real brilliance when I was able to connect with the emotions of living up to expectations (both other people's and your own).

I unabashedly love John Green. This is a great example of the humor that he uses in his books and the power of his writing. He makes math seem interesting, which is a huge feat in my eyes.

I was so disappointed that this book was just mediocre for me. I love John Green so heckin much- but this fell short.
I found that this book is very unique. The characters and plot drew me in. The main characters felt real and fun loving. The constant banter between them have the book a sense of reality. It is a love story , but with a twist that you would never expect. John Green, the author, is known for writing witty romance novels. This is the second book I have read that he has written. The two are similar in concept, but different , style wise. I gave this book a five star rating soley based on the fact that there were footnotes and graphs to show Colin's progress, of solving his theorem.
i will never forgive my friend who lent me this book, not because it was bad or because i did not enjoy it. but because he believed Catherine to be pronounced like Kathleen all because of the K, now whenever I see this book I read the title absolutely wrong. also bc my other 8th grade friend suggested our math teacher read it and on accident and it was the humiliating thing we'd ever encountered.
I'm almost sorry I'm giving it 1 star but it wasn't okay, it was helluva boring. For someone who has read every single one of Green's books, it was just devastatingly way below average; as if he ran out of tropes and recycled every idea he had ever had and wrote this.
Do not recommend unless... I don't know, perhaps someone who's new to the author's book, can actually find this one readable. For me it was barely that. I struggled to finish it.
