3.5 Oh Man it started sooo good, the concept is really intriguing, but... What the hell is wrong with those characters.
Julian the "super hero cop" was an cheating asshole, the whole time he was praising himself for moral and decency but was cheating on his wife, with whom he has a child, he rather spend time with his affair then with his own child come on, the same is to say for Alison.. didn't like either of them, also not sure why they were there the whole time.
Mal and Lee could have had more screentime and be more important than they were, not sure what their mission was, Lee was afraid the whole time didn't do anything, shouldn't she be a Monster Hunter of some sort.
The "human" character that I liked and was actually helpfull in some ways was Kay.

A tremendous book. Possibly my favorite Tchaikovsky to date, which is already a high bar to clear after Alien Clay.
This is what I call a well deserved favourite. Very, very well deserved.
Wow this book is fantastic.
It narrates multiple parallel stories, amongst them Lee’s, a young woman whose lover, Mal, disappeared many years ago, and Julian Sabreur’s, a MI5 agent whose mission is to protect a well known physicist, Kay Amal Khan, who works on controversial projects. A mix between thriller and science-fiction with an end of the world atmosphere, this book is a gem to read: I just could not let it go.
We are used to great works from Adrian, but here, it’s fantastic, really. For sure, one of my best reads of the year.
