Okay. The first word that comes to mind. I do feel as if this literally was just a more PG version of Bridgerton.  Understandably the story is from Georgiana’s perspective, however I wish you could’ve seen more of some of the other characters like Jonathon, Cecily and  Jane. Their backstories or at least a few more interaction with them would have made the story more interesting. The side characters didn’t feel fleshed out and were just “trope personalities” instead. I would recommend for a lighthearted read, although the book takes a dark turn at the end (which I don’t think was entirely necessary and I kind of wish the book had gone in a different direction. It kind of felt a bit like a scape goat situation, and should’ve been either addressed more deeply  - delving more into the power imbalance between men and women in this age - or removed entirely. It just seemed out of place given the lighthearted comical tone of the rest of the book). If you want to read a bridgerton version of mean girls, this is the book for you.

Good vibes all round
+ the balance of modernisation and historical accuracy was good imo. Didn’t take away from it
+ characters were very real and felt like I understood them
+ complexities of female friendship in the face of 19th century patriarchy was really well done
+ romance sub plot was fun

I loved this story, though I was sold it as “queer regency” and the queerness is only a side pairing and what I might call a queer platonic toxic friendship. I love that romances give us happy endings :) But part of what I love about regency is the clothing descriptions, which were sadly lacking here. Nevertheless, a fun and quick read and I’m looking forward to more from Lex Croucher.
