Really informative and easily accessible. As someone who suffers from a gut related chronic illness, I had a particular personal interest in the subject matter, and found many an informative tidbit within.
Really interesting and well written with loads of laughs along the way also. I really hope this Doctor continues to write as it explained loads of things in such an easy manner you didn't loose interest :)
Overall I liked it. The drawings were cute but not particularly helpful. The author also didn't go into as much detail as I would have liked in areas, but as an introductory book for someone who is just learning about gut health, it is decent.

I wanted to like this much more than I did. The tone was too casual, and I wasn't fond of the audiobook narration. I wanted this to be more scientific than it was, and while there were some fascinating chapters, the overall book was closer to meh without much new information. The casual tone would be approachable for some of my students, but I tired of the anthropomorphism of bacteria by the end. I understand it was intended to be a way to draw analogies for readers that aren't as familiar with science, but the technique was overdone.

Very insightful but there’s a lot of outdated fatphobic views ingrained throughout which made me feel uncomfortable as someone who has struggled with an ED previously, struggles to gain weight and has many fat, healthy friends.
Fascinating book about the role gut health has on our overall health. Just did a re-read after experiencing a gut-related health issue. Highly recommend this book.
