Loved it

So creative! I loved it! I really got into the amazing personalities of each child and the whole neighborhood. I cannot wait to keep reading the series.

Cute wholesome family story. Good read alike for fans of the Penderwicks series.

A tender family story about a family about to be evicted from the home they love and their neighborhood they adore and how they rally the community to help them.

The Vanderbeekers are a numerous, joyful, creative bunch who live on 141st Street thanks to their father's part-time job as a super. When their Scrooge-like landlord threatens to throw them out with one month's notice on January 1st, the kids spring into action trying to win him over. Unfortunately all their efforts seem to backfire and January 1 is getting closer and closer. If you're in the mood for warm, fuzzy & quirky family stories, this book is for you. It's a good Xmas read-aloud. But it doesn't have anywhere near the depth of the Penderwicks or the Melendys (obviously an inspiration from the inscription), possibly because the tragedy provided to lend contrast to all the just-baked brownie gooey fun doesn't touch this family itself; it's secondary.

Adorable middle grade read. Loved the little drawings.

I absolutely adored this story. It's up there with the best MG I've ever read. The story is funny and tender and absolutely hilarious. The writing is fantastic. As I was reading, I kept thinking how much opportunity there is for vocabulary growth because it did a great job of incorporating complex words with excellent context clues. The narration was wonderful. I'd definitely add this to a middle school library if you haven't already!

"Diversity" meselesini zorlamaymış gibi hissettirmeden vermesi kafadan +1 puan almasını sağladı. Dinleyerek, okuyarak, izleyerek büyüdüğüm pek çok masalı hatırlatmasına rağmen başlı başına farklı bir hikayeydi de. Çocuklar, ebeveynleri ile ilişkileri, aile ortamı ve aile haline gelen mahalle topluluğu insanın içini ısıtıyor gerçekten.

I love the Penderwick books and this family has a very similar vibe. Cute!
