Definitely a good read, for the intended middle grade audience and also adults. I don;t know if this will be another one of Riordan's series as the book functions well as a single standalone, but should it become one I'll be raring to read more.
Moderate: Mental illness and Medical content
Minor: Child death, Confinement, Death, Gun violence, Blood, Death of parent, Abandonment, Colonisation, and Injury/Injury detail

Oh, little thing: Do not read the foreword or introduction if you want to avoid a minor spoiler - it's not thaaaaat big of a deal, but I would've liked to discover that fact while reading instead of in the beginning of the book while reading things that by their name are supposed to be read before starting the story -.-

- the humour that worked so well in previous books (especially in pjo and mcga) just isn't here
- in my opinion he writes fantasy better than science fiction
- this is a stand-alone, so the characters, settings etc didn't get nearly enough time to be fully fleshed out
on the other hand, ester harding. that's it. i adored her and she was so well-written:')
very diverse in general, good enough middle grade science fiction—but i'm also glad uncle rick's returning to the riordanverse this year
Moderate: Death of parent

The first half was excellent, the second half lost steam a bit. Romeo's role was a bit too farfetched for me.
