Honestly? It was good, but not memorable. Cute, easy, predictable — but not exactly something I’ll be craving again. Now that I’ve finished, I don’t have strong feelings about it🤷♀️
🏁 The Setup
Maya travels with her brother Santiago while he competes in Formula 1. Fresh out of college, she starts vlogging the whole experience—races, press events, the behind-the-scenes chaos—which is how she ends up around the drivers all the time. That’s where she meets Noah Slade: three-time world champion, Santiago’s teammate (and rival), and the exact guy her brother warns her to stay away from. He’s arrogant, talented, and 100% a player.
✨ The Characters
Maya was fine, Noah was fine. Nothing super deep, but not unlikeable either. I enjoyed their banter and the tension in the beginning, and I did like that Maya didn’t settle for a casual fling just because the chemistry was there 🙌. The one moment that actually hit me was Noah going to therapy for her (!!). He clearly had commitment issues, so watching him take that step and then show up for her afterwards gave his character more weight.
“Noah, a man denied of love and affection, craves my family’s acceptance more than anything.”
🚫 What Didn’t Work
The sneaking around. It dragged way too long, and when Santiago eventually found out, he wasn’t even mad about the relationship—he was just annoyed she lied. So all that secrecy? Kinda pointless.
🏎️ The F1 Vibes
I thought it was fun. I’m new to F1, so I couldn’t tell how realistic it was (apparently, hardcore fans say it’s not). It didn’t matter much to me—it worked as a backdrop and added some excitement.
🌶️ The Spice
Decent! Not groundbreaking, but enough heat to keep the romance from feeling PG.
💌 The Epilogue
Adorable. Sometimes epilogues feel like an afterthought, but this one wrapped everything up in a satisfying, sweet way.
✨ Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for an easy romance with some racing vibes, this one works. Probably best if you’re not too deep into the F1 world so the inaccuracies don’t bug you. It won’t blow your mind, but it’s a light, fun ride🫶

i forgot i read this but all i remember was that is simply wasn’t good. where are the good f1 romances man
3.75/5 stars after I’ve reread it tbh cuz it took me a longer span but I don’t feel as soulmatey of a connection. I think it’s cuz they never had THAT deep of talks. But don’t get me wrong I definitely did still enjoy it. The only thing tho is Maya and her brother Santiago deadass have a weird incesty relationship bruh. Like calm down on the lovey doveyness. I think some of this book was a little bit more detail than show but not too bad. I like how this book hints and foreshadows for Liam and Sophia too even tho I heard they’re book us the worst in the series.
Spoiler summary:
Noah Slade is an F1 racer on the Bandini team. During a championship his rival Santiago makes him crash and lose. Later, his rival Santiago joins the Bandini team and they’re now teammates. His sister Maya joints him on the tour, and films for her YouTube channel. She thinks Noah is a dick at first but he always had a interest in her. After she rejects him one night bc he didn’t want a relationship and she knew she’d catch feelings if they hook up, he blacked out and hooked up with a random girl. He then regretted it so bad and reflected on his actions. he signed himself up for therapy considering he has a shitty abusive F1 father, and a mother that just wants him for his perks of being an athlete. She sees that he’s changed, and they secretly start a relationship and hide it from Santiago. Then, after a bad crash, she runs into his arms, and his own father exposes that he is dating Maya to Santiago. He gets in a fight with him in Santiago punches his dad. But Santiago gets over it quickly and just wants it’s best for Maya. He ends up getting nervous at the championship, and she goes on his radio to calm him down, and he wins. Then he makes a cute montage video of all the times he secretly likes her before they were together (in press)a year after he wins the championship and proposes.
Notable moments:
Foreshadowing Liam and Sophie’s book by having Maya realize he’s “eye-fucking” her and watching her lips
Maya splashes a drink on her by accident and he wipes the drop off her and licks his finger
“Not to mention how I check out her Instagram daily since she approved my request. My dirty little secret.”
“Noah even tugs on my ponytail now whenever he passes by me.”
More Liam and Sophie foreshadow/backstory: “Liam bet if he placed on the podium in Russia, we would have to go on a date. I stupidly agreed because I was buzzed at a sponsor event.”
He sees she’s dressed up for a double date so he finds out where it is and goes and crashes it
In front of everyone: “You have a little accent. But it’s cute,” Noah says.”
He purposely let Santiago win his hometown race in Barcelona
He rubs sunscreen on her when she’s tanning
He forced her friend Sophie to watch from the audience too so that Maya wasn’t alone
She abruptly goes home and misses a prix, he then doesn’t make it to the top 3 podium for the first time that season
Secretly plans a go karting day for them but makes Jax and Liam pretend they planned it so that Maya will go
He wants to help her out with her vlogs
Blacked out after Maya rejected him and kept calling the girl he took home Maya by accident
After that he starts going to therapy because he wants to become a better man in order to treat Maya better
“The thought of her dating, kissing, or fucking another guy makes me sick. I don’t deserve her, but screw anyone else who tries.”
“I can’t stand how she evades me. So I do what usually calms me and drones out the thoughts in my head. I pull up Maya’s vlog on my laptop and click yesterday’s upload. ”
He starts brushing her hair after their shower
He hates a character on stranger things because she has a crush on him
Santiago heard Noah and Maya having sex (they’re still secretly together) and made a comment teasing Noah that he got a new pre race regimen
“She’s my girlfriend.”
Not officially. But he doesn’t need to know.”
“I’m probably going to marry her one day. I think she’s the one.” I say the words with confidence.”
Okay why are they half incesty. Like why is she openly willing to ask her own brother his favorite sex position on the vlog bruh
Asks her to be his girlfriend mid sex…. Yikes
He brings her to an empty ballroom at the even to slow dance with her (after a quickie of course like ok)
“he caught me off guard, looking excited to say those three words. Now he never goes a day without saying them”
Bruh like her brother said this that’s just weird: “You’ve been more than that lately. I’ll have to talk to Sophie because she takes up too much of your time, making me feel needy and jealous.”
He runs to her after his horrible crash and they embrace and say they love each other right in front of everyone even tho they were still secretly together
He asks for her to talk into his radio to calm him down during world championships (it’s so unrealistic considering no way he can form sentences and focus as if he’s casually driving but it’s the thought that counts)
“Someone passes me the trophy, and I hold it and her in my arms. One of the happiest days of my life.”
“A self-proclaimed “sappy motherfucker” who begged me to wear his race car number today because he needs to mark me in every single way”

There were lot of really bad inaccuracies surrounding F1 and the F1 community that could have been fixed by simple research that did make this book a difficult read at times for me, but this is coming from someone who is a huge fan of F1 so these really stood out to me. If your a non F1 fan then these are things your probably wouldn’t even notice as they don’t really take away from the main plot
Overall the book was excellent the characters were interesting and the plot didn’t feel like one of those really cheesy boy meets girl and they live happily ever after cliche type stories.
This was my first ever proper romance book (not counting romantasy like ACOTAR or Forth Wing) so wanted to give it a try as with it being set around F1 would be a nice way to ease myself into this genre, overall I really enjoyed this book, I actually look forward to reading the next one in the series, only rated 4.5 due to the F1 inaccuracies
